G-U Rhinobolt Hook Lock, 55mm Backset, Euro Cylinder

The 55mm Rhinobolt for a European profile cylinder. Its twin, the GU-854-12382, is the same backset for an American cylinder, and the two are easy to confuse because everything else about them matches.

Settle it by looking. Shine a light into the cylinder hole on the old lock. A figure-eight shaped opening with nothing inside is euro and this is your lock. A metal insert with a slot across it is American.

Two tempered steel hooks lock upward into the frame when the handle goes up, along with the deadbolt. That upward pull is what stops a tall panel bowing as much as it stops a crowbar.

Handle height adjusts from 785 to 1050mm on the gear alone, or 995 to 1145mm with shootbolts fitted. The top shootbolt is GU-854-14551 and the bottom is GU-854-14549.
