PGT Door Parts and Hardware for French Doors
PGT built its French doors with locks from two makers, so start at the edge of the panel you open.
- If that panel has a short plate at the handle and bolts only at the top and bottom, you have the Ashland lock from the PGT 650 or 750. Open PGT Door Hardware.
- If it has one long strip with hooks standing out of it, you have the AmesburyTruth P3000 from the 5455 or 5555. Its upper and lower cases are on the same page.
- For handles, open PGT Door Handle Sets. The lock in your door decides the set.

About PGT
Paul Hostetler and Rod Hershberger founded PGT in 1980 as Vinyl Tech in Venice, Florida, and PGT went on to build impact-resistant windows and doors. PGT has been part of MITER Brands since 2024.
PGT bought its door locks from other makers. It fitted the Ashland concealed lock to its 650 and 750 French doors and the AmesburyTruth P3000 to the 5455 and 5555.
Which PGT Doors These Parts Fit
- Your PGT 650 or 750 French door takes the Ashland active and passive locks, with a 5/16-18 rod thread.
- Your PGT 5455 or 5555 French door takes the P3000 upper and lower cases. PGT and its dealers also write the 5455 as FD455, FD-455 and FD5455.
PGT Parts We Carry
- PGT Door Hardware has the Ashland active lock 56-175 and passive lock 56-176, and the P3000 upper case 56-738 and lower case 56-739.
- PGT Door Handle Sets carries the Ashland Expressions, True Elegance, Forgings and Evolutions sets for the Ashland lock and the Regency sets for the P3000.
Which PGT Lock Do You Have?
Open the door and look at the edge of the panel you open.
- A short plate at the handle, with rods hidden inside the door to bolts at the head and sill, is the Ashland lock.
- One long strip down most of the panel, with hooks standing out of it, is the P3000. It has two cases: the upper one throws the deadbolt for the key, and the lower one holds the latch the handle works.
- Both measure 2-3/8 inches (60mm) from the door edge to the center of the handle, so the backset will not tell them apart.
- On the Ashland lock, back a rod out of its coupling. PGT used a 5/16-18 thread, and no other door maker did.
Before Ordering
- Photograph the door edge with the door open.
- On a P3000, note whether the key or the handle has failed. The key and deadbolt sit in the upper case, and the handle and latch in the lower one.
- Keep your rods. The Ashland locks come without them, and nobody sells the 5/16-18 rods.
- The P3000 cases are special order and non-returnable.
