Hoppe Manual Tongue Gear, 1-3/4" (45mm) Backset with 1/2 Inch Deadbolt Throw

This is the bottom gear of a Hoppe HLS9000 manual tongue lock, supplied with its bottom extension. Lifting the handle swings the tongue into the keeper on the jamb; turning the key throws the deadbolt 1/2" (14mm).

A tongue is a flat steel blade that swings out of the lock strip into the keeper on the jamb. It retracts flush the moment you open the door, so the edge stays clean rather than carrying a protruding hook or bolt.

Notes

  • Backset: 1-3/4" (45mm), measured from the edge of the door panel to the center of the handle spindle
  • Deadbolt throw: 1/2" (14mm)
  • Handle height: 36" (914mm), measured from the bottom of the door to the center of the handle spindle
  • Tongue position: 26-7/16" (671mm) below the handle
  • Faceplate: 5/8" (16mm) wide, stainless steel
  • Maximum cutoff: 4-1/2" (115mm)
  • Hoppe code: M/45/14 914 TN 671 16S 115
  • Bottom gear with bottom extension. Top extensions are ordered separately.
