The HLS7 is Hoppe's multipoint for the American market, and the giveaway is the key above the lever instead of below it. It takes a US style cylinder with a tailpiece rather than a European profile cylinder, which is why an ordinary locksmith can rekey it and why HLS7 and HLS9000 parts do not interchange.

An HLS7 strip is a lower assembly at the bottom, a top extension at the top, and sometimes a middle extension joining the two. Extensions are not handed, so once the handing of the gear is settled the rest of the strip is chosen on length alone.

A middle extension is the filler section between the lower assembly and the top extension. It is used where the panel is tall enough that the top extension cannot reach the gear on its own, and it carries the drive bar through so every locking point still moves together on one handle lift.

A swinghook is a curved steel claw that rotates out of the strip and catches behind a keeper in the jamb, then draws the door in as the handle finishes its lift. It reaches further into the frame than a tongue and compresses the weatherseal rather than just filling a slot.

This middle section carries one. Adding a hook in the middle of the strip is how you get a locking point between the gear and the top extension on a panel that needs one.

Sized for 6 foot 8 inch panels with a 36 inch handle height, and used with the swinghook and shootbolt top extension 3066021 on the swinghook and shootbolt build. That top section is sold separately.
